You would have read about the Australian Championships at Kurrawa Beach over the weekend, and the tragedy of a Maroochydore competitor Matthew Barclay in the U15 Board race. From all the members of Burning Palms SLSC we pass on our condolences to his family, friends and the members of Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club.

Our competitors flew the Brown and Green over the weekend but to no avail, with no medals won.

Last weekend saw the New South Wales Surf Life Saving Championships at Kingscliff, which seemed to be very successful.

The beach had serious erosion, so it was very difficult to be located in front of the Cudgen Surf Club and see the Boats at Fingal the water area 2.5k north of the clubhouse with the beach events at the southern end of the beach.

This made it difficult for competitors, officials and spectators but all events were run under a medium sea and fine weather.
